week 7

Week seven was the most memorable for me as it was the one time I was in front of the camera and  I actually had to talk to the presenter. During this week, we were recording an interview with the producers and the director of the music video we had shot the previous week.  We did not have to prepare anything big for this week, but we still attended the production meeting. Kamila and I wrote the questions for the producer, which was really convenient for us because we could prepare our answers in advance. We also sent out the questions to Caleb, who was the music video's director, and to Rachel - our presenter.  In the studio we were sat on a couch and for the first time we were taken care of by the floor manager and the rest of the team. It felt quite weird, as we were usually on the other side of the production process. However, I found this experience very useful as I got to know what the guests usually need and expect from us. We had to have our microphone checked and

week 6

Week 6 was definitely the most challenging for me. The task was to record a music video in the studio and also a location music video. Then, we had to edit them both to make it look like a professional music video.  Because there was always a pair of producers, my friend Kamila and I decided to be them for this week, since we had not done that yet. We had to organize so much! First, we had to decided on the song and the artist. Our friend Eryk agreed to play guitar and sing "Rude" by Magic! for us. Because he was a student as well, we had to make sure that he was available to shoot during our workshop. The whole process was really stressful, especially because we knew Eryk was also not feeling that well. However, working with Kamila was a really good experience. We're very good friends and we understand each other well.  During our production meeting we decided on what roles everyone else gets and we informed the rest about our artist. Everyone agreed on the

week 5

For the workshop in week 5 we were supposed to prepare a multi-camera script that we would later based a five-minute cooking show on. That was the first time we were working with 4 cameras. The 4th camera was a static shot from up above that was supposed to capture the presenter's actions in order to prepare a meal.  During the production meeting we, as always, assigned all the roles. I chose to be a scriptwriter once again because I really enjoyed doing it the previous week. We asked our friend Richard to be our presenter because he is a very charismatic person. Writing the script turned out to not be as easy as the last time because now I had to include the 'as directed' part and I had never done that before. However, I did some research on the Internet and I looked up an exemple of such script on blackboard. We had to provide the props and nicely decorate the set. The meal the presenter had to prepare was a peanut butter & banana sandwich.  Be

week 4

Week 4 had definitely my favorite workshop of the module. We were producing 2 five-minute programmes for kids. Przemek told us to have two production meetings. During the first one we had to pick a book we wanted to read, and then later draft a script. For this week I chose to be a scriptwrtier and a caption person.  The book we chose was The 3 Billy Goats Gruff . The producers went and got some copies of the book, and after I was handed one, I could start writing the script. It did not cause me any trouble, as I remembered all the mistakes we made the previous week.  We had to prepare not only the script but also a short intro, music, sound effects and credits. We had to prepare the set as well.  As one of the caption people, I was responsible for changing the pages of the book, so the next camera shot could show the fragment that our presenter was currently reading out.                     The recording was going really smoothly, and after a couple of takes Przeme

week 3

Before the week 3 workshop, we had a production meeting in the library. We were told that we would be recording a news programme, and we had some things to establish before. Firstly, we assigned each other roles. I chose to be the PA that week, as it was the only role that I was really interested in, and I still hadn't tried it out.  "The producstion assistant (PA) helps the director and/or producer with production needs. These may include supervising the production office (making copies, making coffee, and running errands), prerehearsals, and s or location organization. Their responsibilities may also include loging tapes, taking notes during production meetings, and similar tasks. During rehearsals and recording, this person may assist the producer/director with graphics or serve as a floor manager." (Millerson, 2012) Then, we had to choose 6 stories from local newspapers or the Internet, and write the script for the workshop. We also had to prepare captions for ea

week 2

During the second week, we were learning all about the camera work and the role of the floor manager. Przemek invited a girl from the third year, who was a great director and floor manager the previous year. She was keen on helping us and giving us all the tips and adive. She was also just a really friendly person, and having her on set that day made me more comfrotable.  Firstly, Przemek reminded us about all the roles that he introduced us to, the previous week. He also talked more about the  Q-Lab software. Then, he said that the aim for this week is for us to know what the 'as directed' sequence looks like and that in that day's recorded programme we should use a lot of camera shots. He tought us some new camera angles and shots, and we got to know more about the camera movement.  Next, he described the role of the floor manager. He went into depth with this role, and walked us through everything. From the FM's responsibilities to its' perks.  The
